How to care to your knitwear
I truly believe that knitted pieces deserve special care. Whether handmade or carefully chosen, they keep warmth, comfort, and a unique character that can last for many years with the right treatment.
I always recommend washing knitted garments gently and as rarely as possible. In most cases, fresh air is enough to refresh the item. When washing is needed, hand washing in cool water with a soft detergent is the safest option. Knits do not like hot water, aggressive spinning, or rough handling.
One important rule I follow is never hanging wet knitted items. The weight of water can stretch the fabric and ruin its shape. Instead, I lay everything flat on a towel and allow it to dry naturally. This helps the garment keep its beautiful structure and softness.
For storage, I prefer folding sweaters and knitted accessories neatly on shelves rather than hanging them. This prevents stretching and keeps the pieces looking аккуратно and cozy. Natural fibers especially appreciate breathable storage and protection from moisture.
If small pills appear over time, do not worry — this is natural for many yarns. A gentle fabric comb or sweater shaver easily refreshes the look of the knit without damaging it.
With a little attention and care, knitted items stay soft, beautiful, and comfortable season after season.
